Troubleshooting VSee
- VSee won't log in
If you're having trouble logging into VSee, it's probably because there is a firewall blocking the VSee client from communicating with VSee servers. Disable or add an exception to the VSee client in all active firewalls. Specifically, VSee works best if it's allowed outgoing UDP to any destination from source ports 6000-6254. Email support@vsee.com if you continue to have issues.
- How do I select my camera and microphone?
You can select your camera and microphone on the PC version by selecting "Audio/Camera setup" from the Settings menu (gear icon) in your local video window. On the Mac version, choose "Preferences" from the top VSee menu and then choose the "Audio" or "Video" tab.
- Why doesn't my local video look as good as it does in other programs?
Many other videoconferencing programs show an ideal image from your webcam, which does not give a true indication of how your video looks to other users, after it has been compressed and transmitted to them. VSee compresses your video before it displays it to you, so you have the best possible idea of what you look like to other users.
- I'm having problems calling another user
Most often this issue is resolved by making sure that any firewalls (yours or theirs) are properly configured to allow VSee. Disable or add an exception to the VSee client in all active firewalls. Specifically, VSee works best if it's allowed outgoing UDP to any destination from source ports 6000-6254. Email support@vsee.com if you continue to have issues.
- I'm experiencing audio or video quality issues while in a call or meeting.
Most often this is caused by firewall issues (see above FAQ entry) or one or more users having insufficient bandwidth (see "How much bandwidth does VSee require?"). If you continue to have audio/video issues, please email support@vsee.com.
- Another user's audio is too low
Ask them to turn up their mic volume in the Audio/Video settings window, or to turn up their volume using the slider at the bottom of their video window.
- My contacts keep disappearing after I add them to my address book
It's likely that they are offline, and your VSee client is set to "Hide offline contacts." You can verify this by checking the Preferences menu. On the PC, click on the "wrench" icon at the upper-right of your address book and select "Preferences." On the Mac, click "VSee" on the top menu bar and choosing "Preferences."
